The Yelp Search API returns real-time local business results from Yelp. For a given search term and location, it provides organic business listings and ads with ratings, review counts, categories, addresses, phone numbers, distance, review snippets, and photos, along with related searches and Yelp's category breadcrumbs for the search, such as Restaurants > Pizza.

API Parameters

Search Query

  • Name

    This parameter defines the search term, such as a business name (Starbucks) or a category keyword (dentist, coffee). It can be up to 128 characters.

Geographic Location

    This parameter defines the geographic area to search around. It accepts a city and state (New York, NY), an address, or a ZIP code.

Sorting

    This parameter defines how results are ordered.

    Supported values are recommended (default), rating, and review_count.

    review_count requires device=desktop.

Filters

    This parameter filters results by price level, from 1 ($) to 4 ($$$$). Combine multiple levels with commas, e.g. 1,2.

    Description

    This parameter filters results by a Yelp category alias, e.g. restaurants or barbers. Category aliases are returned in the categories field of mobile results.

    This parameter filters results by Yelp attribute tokens. Combine multiple tokens with commas, e.g. GoodForKids,RestaurantsDelivery. Yelp ignores tokens it does not recognize.

Pagination

    This parameter defines the page of results to return. A mobile page holds up to 80 results (Yelp uses 60 or 10 for some searches), and a desktop page holds 10.

    Yelp lists at most 240 results in total for a search term and location, across all pages combined.

    Yelp can reorder results between requests, so a business may appear on more than one page. Use place_id to deduplicate results.

Device

    This parameter defines the device to search on. mobile (default) returns up to 80 organic results per page. desktop returns 10 per page and adds neighborhoods and is_service_area_business to results.

    Desktop results come without distance, and desktop organic results without phone. Desktop addresses give the street and city only, and desktop search_information.location has no gps_coordinates. Desktop categories carry no alias, and their titles can differ from mobile's. Desktop ads come without tracking_link.

As everyone knows, getting a reservation here can be a struggle since people are seriously on their A-game the second reservations go live. We happened to already be in the city that day and somehow got lucky finding a reservation close to the time we were already nearby, so we knew we had to take our chance! The whole place is beautiful and has such a cozy, classic Chicago feel. I would absolutely come back, but next time I really want to sit outside because their outdoor patio is gorgeous. The staff was also super friendly and really helpful with recommendations throughout the night. We started with the warm Parker House rolls, which were so soft, fluffy, buttery, and delicious. Then we shared the vodka rigatoni, and the portion was definitely big enough for two people to split. So creamy, comforting, and really good. Of course we had to end with one of their classics, the sticky date cake, and OMG. Soooo good. Warm, rich, sweet, and the perfect way to finish dinner. Definitely worth finally checking off my list, and I'd happily come back again, especially for a patio night!",
