Google Dataset Info API Documentation
The Google Dataset Info API returns one dataset from Google Dataset Search, identified by its
dataset_id. You get the same metadata a
Google Dataset Search API result carries: the
dataset's title and other names, link and description, its providers, funders and authors, download
formats and licenses, whether it is available in Croissant format, last update, covered time period and
areas, measured variables and measurement techniques, scholarly citation count, citation text and
versions.
Use it to refresh the metadata of datasets you already track without searching for them again. Take
the dataset_id of any dataset_results item, or the docid of a
Google Dataset Search link. A dataset published in more than one version carries versions:
pass its versions_id to the Google Dataset Search API as versions_id to list
the versions.
API Parameters
Search Query
-
- Name
-
dataset_id - Required
- Required
- Description
-
This parameter defines the dataset to look up, e.g.
L2cvMTF3anByZHMzag==. Get it from thedataset_results.dataset_idfield of the Google Dataset Search API. The id also works percent-encoded or without its trailing=, and so does a Google Dataset Search link that carries it in itsdocidparameter.
Engine
-
- Name
-
engine - Required
- Required
- Description
-
Parameter defines an engine that will be used to retrieve real-time data. It must be set to
google_dataset_info.
API key
-
- Name
-
api_key - Required
- Required
- Description
-
The
api_keyauthenticates your requests. Use it as a query parameter (https://www.searchapi.io/api/v1/search?api_key=YOUR_API_KEY) or in the Authorization header (Bearer YOUR_API_KEY).
Zero Data Retention
-
- Name
-
zero_retention - Enterprise Only
- Enterprise Only
- Required
- Optional
- Description
-
Set this parameter to
trueto disable all logging and persistent storage. No request parameters, HTML, or JSON responses are stored or logged. Suitable for high-compliance use cases. Debugging and support may be limited while enabled.
API Examples
Dataset
The dataset object has the fields of a Google Dataset Search result except
position. A dataset_id Google Dataset Search doesn't know returns an
error instead.

"description": "This collection of cases was acquired at Stony Brook University from patients who tested positive for COVID-19. The collection includes images from different modalities and organ sites (chest radiographs, chest CTs, brain MRIs, etc.). Radiology imaging data is extremely important in COVID-19 from both a diagnostic and a monitoring perspective, given the crucial nature of COVID-19 pulmonary disease and its rapid phenotypic changes. The datasets are available for building AI systems for diagnostic and prognostic modeling.\nThis collection also includes associated clinical data for each patient. The clinical data consists of diagnoses, procedures, lab tests, covid19 specific data values (e.g., intubation status, symptoms at admission) and a set of derived data elements, which were used in analyses of this data. The clinical data is stored as a set of csv files which comply with OMOP Common Data Model data elements.\nThe images on the right show automated identification of regions of prognostic importance on baseline chest radiographs. The regions of highest prognostic importance (as determined by the AI algorithm) are observed primarily in lower lung regions, consistent with clinical findings on the corresponding CXRs.",
